Celebrating the 36th Anniversary
Festival of the Horse
Toyota Grand Parade of Horses
September 10th, 2016

Dear Horse Enthusiast,

The Georgetown/Scott County community will be celebrating the 36th anniversary of the Festival of the Horse in 2016. The Georgetown Woman’s Club is proud to announce that they are continuing to be coordinators of the Festival of the Horse Toyota Grand Parade. Bonnie Neuville will again organize the Festival of the Horse-Horse Show. However, the Grand Parade and Horse Show are making some changes to improve and increase number of entries. If you are a member of the KAFHS (Kentucky Association of Fairs and Horse Shows) –winning points will be sent to the association.

The Kentucky Mounted Patrol will be participating for the 6th straight year. On Saturday, September 10th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. the Brookings Park Horse Show Ring is filled with exciting obstacles. 10 civilians will be learning the skills needed for a well-behaved horse from Natural Horsemanship Trainer Holly Williamson. Admission is charged for spectators to watch the training techniques used by the Kentucky Mounted Patrol.

The Festival would like you to consider participating in this year’s Toyota Grand Parade and Sunday’s Horse Show. You may sign up for the Horse Show – September 11th and Grand Parade – September 10th the day of the event. We would prefer you pre-enter for the Grand Parade, however a registration table will be available at Main & Military 3:00-4:30PM the day of the event. We have enclosed the entry form for the Grand Parade for your convenience to be returned by September 6, 2016. Once we receive your Parade registration, we will send a confirmation email or letter – indicating parade line-up, parking, etc. Please have your friends who would like to participate, call the Georgetown/Scott County Chamber of Commerce – Laura, Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., 502-863-5424, for additional forms visit

On Saturday, September 10th the Georgetown Woman’s Club will hold the annual Toyota Grand Parade featuring an all horse revue.

  • The parade includes saddle horses with riders, drill teams and horse-drawn vehicles.
  • We will continue the feature “Breeds” as an educational part of the parade.
  • Signage will be available for your breed based on a first-come-first-serve basis.
  • The signs will be provided by the Georgetown Women’s Club but you will need to provide a sign carrier.
  • Judging will be handled a little differently this year. All units will be judged between 4:00 and 4:45PM.
  • The judge will be reviewing units for 3 overall placement s- 1st – $150.00 – 2nd $100.00 and
3rd – $75.00. Winner will be presented checks and ribbons.

If you have any questions, please call Laura Toole at 859-338-2633.  FYI: Due to numerous complaints and the safety for all — we will not allow handouts of any kind this year including: candy, beads, ribbons, booklets, pamphlets or promotional materials. NO EXCEPTIONS!! You will be pulled from the parade.

If you have questions regarding health paper requirements – you may contact the Kentucky State Veterinarian @ 502-573-0282. Because of the unpredictable nature of a horse event, we have also included in this packet, a waiver of liability, exempting the Festival, its coordinators, and the City of Georgetown from any lawsuits resulting in injury. All participants must have this signed and included with their applications. If you register the day of the event, you will be required to sign a waiver. Please note these items are also needed if you plan to participate in the Horse Show on Sunday.

Thank you for your support!
