Dear Horse Enthusiast,
The Georgetown/Scott County community will be celebrating the 34th anniversary of the Festival of the Horse in 2014. For the second year, a subcommittee of the Georgetown/Scott County Tourism Commission will be organizing the Festival of the Horse. The Georgetown Woman’s Club will continue to coordinate the Festival of the Horse Grand Parade. Marie Tomacelli will present Experience the Horse and Horse Games. Bonnie Neuville will again organize the Festival of the Horse, Horse Show. Festival of the Horse Grand Parade
The Kentucky Mounted Patrol will be participating in the Festival of the Horse for the 4th straight year. On Friday, October 3rd 2014 from 10am to 4pm the Brooking Park Horse Show Ring is filled with exciting obstacles. 10 civilians will be learning the skills needed for a well-behaved horse from Natural Horsemanship Trainer Holly Williamson. Admission is for spectators to watch the training techniques used by the Kentucky Mounted Patrol.
The Festival would like you to consider participating in this year’s Grand Parade but also the Horse Games on Saturday morning and afternoon and Sunday’s Horse Show. You may sign up for the Horse Show the day of the event. We have enclosed the entry form for the Grand Parade to be returned by September 15, 2014. Once we receive your Parade registration, we will send a confirmation letter. Please have your friends who would like to participate, call the Georgetown/Scott County Tourism Commission – Lori, 502-863-2547 for additional forms or visit www.festivalofthehorse.org.
On Saturday, October 4th the Georgetown Woman’s Club will hold the annual Toyota Grand Parade featuring an all horse revue. The parade includes saddle horses with riders, drill teams and horse-drawn vehicles. We will continue the “Parade of Breeds” as an educational part of the parade. If you would like to be considered to represent your breed in the Parade of Breeds, pleased check the box on the application. The Parade coordinators will also send: a place to park your trailer, a line-up guide, judging criteria and miscellaneous information that will help make the parade a fun and safe event. If you have any questions, please call Lori Saunders at 502-863-2547. FYI: Due to numerous complaints and the safety for all — we will not allow handouts of any kind this year including: candy, beads, ribbons, booklets, pamphlets or promotional materials. NO EXCEPTIONS!! You will be pulled from the parade.
All participants in the Parade must be pre-registered. Please include one copy of your negative coggins papers, with your entry(s). State inspectors also want a health certificate. If you are out-of-state, the state agriculture department requires a 30-day health certificate or passport. Because of the unpredictable nature of horse events, we have also included in this packet, a release of liability and indemnification form, exempting the Festival of the Horse, Georgetown/Scott County Tourism, the Georgetown Woman’s Club, and the City of Georgetown, Ky. and its officers and agents, and all sponsoring organizations and their directors, employees, sponsors, agents and volunteers. All participants must have this signed and included with their applications. Please note these items are also needed if you plan to participate in the Horse Show on Sunday.
Thank you for your support!
